This notice explains what information we hold about you, where we got it, why we're allowed to use it, and how to ask us to stop. It's written in plain English because that's what the law asks for, and because it's what you'd want.

If you've received a letter or email from us
What we hold
Typically: your name, the address of the land, your correspondence address, and, where it is part of the public record, the title number and the details of the registered ownership. If we've spoken, we'll hold a note of what was said and your telephone number and email address if you gave them to us.
Where we got it
From HM Land Registry, which publishes the register of ownership for registered land in England and Wales, and which anyone can search. In some cases from other public records, such as Companies House or the planning register kept by your local council.
We do not buy mailing lists, we do not use tracing agents, and we do not scrape social media.
The law says that when we get your information from somewhere other than you, we have to tell you. That's what the letter and this notice do. [1]
Why we're allowed to use it
The lawful basis is what the law calls legitimate interests. [2] Our interest is in identifying land that may be suitable for new homes and telling its owner about an opportunity that may be worth a great deal to them. We've weighed that against your interest in not being written to, and we think a single, clearly identified letter, with an easy way to say no, is a fair balance.
Your name and the ownership of the land are already public. We don't hold anything that isn't, unless you've chosen to give it to us.
What we do with it
We use it to write to you, once or occasionally, about your land. If you reply, we use it to have the conversation and, if it goes further, to prepare an agreement. We do not sell it, share it with other promoters or developers, or use it for anything unrelated to your land.
We may share it with the professional advisors we appoint on a site — planning consultants, solicitors, surveyors — where they need it to do their work, and only for that purpose. They are bound by their own duties of confidentiality.
How long we keep it
If you tell us you're not interested, we keep the minimum needed to make sure we don't write to you again — your name and the land's address on a "do not contact" list — and delete the rest.
If we don't hear from you, we keep your details for three years from the date of our last letter, then delete them unless there's a reason to review the land again.
If we enter into an agreement with you, we keep the records for as long as the agreement lasts and for six years afterwards, which is the period a contract can be enforced.
Your right to object
You have the right to tell us to stop, at any time. [3] You don't need to give a reason. Phone, email or write to the contact above and we will stop within five working days and confirm that we've done so.
If you use this website
Cookies and analytics. The site is hosted by Wix, which sets the cookies needed to make the site work and, with your consent, cookies for analytics. We use Wix's analytics and Google Search Console to see how people find and use the site. Neither tells us who you are. You can refuse non-essential cookies using the banner when you first visit, and change your mind at any time.
Your land page. Letters and emails carry a link to a page about your land. That page is not listed by search engines and is only reachable from the link. If you visit it, our analytics record that the link was used, so we know the letter arrived.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you (a "subject access request");
- correct anything that's wrong;
- delete it, where we no longer have a reason to keep it;
- stop using it, either altogether or for direct marketing, which we will always do;
- give you a copy in a usable form, where that applies.
Contact the person named above. We'll respond within one month. There's no charge.
If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd rather you spoke to us first so we can put it right.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we use your information we'll update this page and, if the change affects you, write to tell you.
